The Undercurrents Archive

ImageUndercurrents‘The magazine of radical science and alternative technology’, started in 1972 and ran until 1984, when it was merged into Resurgence, which has survived and thrived to this day.  This archive will republish it on the web, using Issuu as a platform.

From the Manifesto in UC01: Science with a Human Face: UNDERCURRENTS has been started by some people who believe that radical views on scientific and technological subjects need a medium in which they can be aired. Science, we feel, has largely abandoned its original ‘quest for truth’ — if the phrase sounds naive today, it is a measure of that abandonment . . Technology, too, while still masquerading as mankind’s great emancipator, is increasingly becoming the instrument of our enslavement . . This first edition is unlikely to set the world on fire. But it’s better, they say, to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

  1. I made baby food for my first but, it always seemed like so much work to feed one tiny person. I just gave my second small pieces of whatever we ate or mashed it for him. (He did1;#82n7&t start solids until 8 months so it worked out well.) I think I will be doing the same for my third who is 2 1/2 months now.[]
